He acknowledged that they anticipated Girona’s possession prowess, saying, “We weren’t surprised by the possession they had. We knew they are a quality side, and we understood the effort required in this game. They are a formidable team, adept at ball control and exhibit great mobility with frequent positional changes.”
The defensive struggles are a growing concern for Xavi, considering Barcelona only conceded 20 goals in 38 games last season but have already let in 18 goals in just 16 matches this campaign.
