Goa, Sep 9: The 37th National Games to be held in Goa from October 25 to November 9 was formally inaugurated by Goa Governor P.S. Did it. Sreedharan Pillai inaugurated the ‘Torch’ during a program organized at Raj Bhavan, Durbar Hall in Donapaula. During the program, the Governor also unveiled the National Games Anthem (theme song), sung by renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan.
In his address, Governor Pillai emphasized the importance of this unique opportunity for Goa to host the National Games, which is a historic moment for the State. He called Goa ‘Devbhoomi’ or the land of gods in India and underlined the country’s commitment to unity and integrity.
He highlighted the nationwide participation expected for this prestigious event and stressed the need for preparations and the potential positive impact on Goa’s tourism sector.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed the state’s readiness to host the National Games and elaborated on the ‘torch’ that will travel across Goa, allowing rural areas to participate in the festivities of the grand event. Considering it an important honor for the state, Sawant encouraged active participation in the Games to secure medals for Goa. He called upon Goans to collectively contribute to the success of the event, making it a memorable occasion for years to come.
