In Doha, Indian star Neeraj Chopra threw his best throw of 88.36 meters in his sixth and final attempt. But he missed the gold medal by 0.2 meters. Czech Republic’s Jakob Vadlejch earned first place in the javelin event of the Diamond League event with a best effort of 88.38m.
27-year-old Neerad Chopra is one of the biggest stars in Diamond League 2024. He started his first attempt with a foul, in his second attempt he threw the javelin 84.93m, in his third attempt he threw the javelin to 86.24m, in his fourth attempt Neeraj threw the javelin 86.18m, then in his fifth attempt he only threw the javelin to 82.28m. In the javelin, in his sixth and final attempt, Asian Games gold medalist Neeraj Chopra threw his best effort of 88.36 metres.
Jakob Wadlejch of the Czech Republic recorded his best throw of 88.38 meters in his third attempt. His fifth and sixth attempts were fouled. But his third attempt qualified him for the gold medal. Another Indian in the competition was Kishore Kumar Jena, who finished ninth among the 10 participants with a low effort of 76.31.
Neeraj Chopra will take part in the Federation Cup from May 12, which will be his first domestic tournament in three years. Neeraj Chopra last competed in the 2021 Federation Cup, which was held before the Tokyo Olympics. Javelin thrower Neeraj became the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics.
