India’s reigning world champion Nikhat Zareen (52kg) kicked off his campaign with a 5-0 win over Rakhimberdi Zhansaya of Kazakhstan on the opening day of Elorda Cup 2024 on Monday. Once again, Zareen has celebrated her name. He has defeated his opponent with his powerful performance. Due to his excellent game, he has won his very first match.
In the 48 kg category, Meenakshi registered a 4-1 win over Kazakhstan’s Gasimova Roksana and booked her place in the next round.
In contrast, in the first round of the 50 kg category bout, Anamika defeated Zhumabaeva Aralim with a Referee Stops the Contest (RSC) win.

Meanwhile, Ishmeet Singh lost 0-5 to Kazakhstan’s Armanuli Armat in the 75kg category and China’s Chang Yuan defeated Sonia 0-5 in the 54kg category. Ishmeet Singh and Sonia have been eliminated after losing their matches.
Shiv Thapa, a six-time Asian Championship medallist, will be in action on Tuesday in the 63.5kg category, Sanjay in the 80kg category and Gaurav Chauhan in the 92+kg category. Apart from this, three other Indian boxers will also be in action on Tuesday.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has sent a 21-member team for this prestigious tournament, in which players from India, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Japan are participating.
