Canberra, Sep 21: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, responding to a reporter’s question on whether he regretted referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “The Boss”, suggested the reporter should “be a little quieter.”
In a video, the reporter had asked Albanese whether he had raised concerns with PM Modi about Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s allegations against the Indian government regarding the killing of a Khalistani terrorist. The reporter also questioned whether Albanese regretted using the term “the boss” when describing PM Modi during his visit to Australia in May.
Albanese’s reaction was mild. He explained, “Seriously, you should get some rest,” and began sharing the context of his earlier statement. He mentioned that he made the Bruce Springsteen reference because he had been to a venue where the legendary musician had performed in the past. Albanese clarified that his intention was to highlight the warm welcome PM Modi received from the Indian diaspora during his visit.
He concluded by emphasizing that he welcomed Prime Minister Modi to Australia, as he does with other guests.
During Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Sydney in May, Albanese jokingly called him “The Boss” and drew comparisons between his popularity and that of Bruce Springsteen. The comment was made at an event for Indian expatriates at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, where Albanese commented, “The last time I saw someone on this stage was Bruce Springsteen, and he didn’t get that welcome. Which Prime Minister Modi has done.” found it. Prime Minister Modi is the boss.
