TEHRAN, December 22: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr Hamad al-Busaidi, discussed by phone recent developments in the Gaza Strip as well as enhancing bilateral ties, according to a statement. On Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister strongly condemned Israeli attacks on Palestinians, and said the US bears international responsibility because of its alleged involvement in Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Amir-Abdullahian expressed satisfaction over the implementation of agreements between Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in May, Xinhua news agency reported.
The Omani Foreign Minister stressed the need for the international community to take effective steps to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to deliver adequate humanitarian assistance to the region. Additionally, he underlined the importance of expanding “fraternal” relations between the two countries.
The ongoing conflict has included a massive Israeli military offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip since October 7. According to reports from Israeli officials, the situation deteriorated after Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel, resulting in casualties.
