In a recent virtual address to Awami League supporters, ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina accused the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus of transforming Bangladesh into a hub of terrorism and lawlessness. She criticized Yunus for his lack of governance experience, stating, “Yunus has no experience of running a government. He dissolved all inquiry committees and unleashed the terrorists to butcher people. They are destroying Bangladesh.”
Hasina vowed to return to Bangladesh to seek justice for those affected by the current unrest, declaring, “We will oust this government of terrorists. Inshallah.”
The political turmoil in Bangladesh escalated following student-led protests against Hasina’s government, which led to her ousting and subsequent refuge in India. The interim government, under Yunus’s leadership, has been criticized for its handling of the situation, with reports of up to 1,400 people killed during the crackdown on protests.
In response to Hasina’s allegations, Yunus emphasized the need for justice and accountability, stating that his government is committed to addressing the violence and ensuring stability in the country.
The interim government has initiated extradition proceedings to bring Hasina back to Bangladesh to face charges related to her tenure, including allegations of human rights violations.
As tensions continue to rise, the international community closely monitors the situation, urging all parties to engage in dialogue to restore peace and order in Bangladesh.
